The same thing seemed to happen after I upgraded docker. I waited a few minutes and restarted the app container. I did find that on initial setup, the MariaDB container took a while to come up and caused the app container to stop running. I won’t cover the guide in any great detail here, as it’s in-depth on their website and includes the docker configuration you’ll need. But I decided to give PhotoPrism a try, as it can be self-hosted, and they even have a guide on their website for running it on Docker on a Synology NAS! I use Backblaze B2 as a place to store off-site encrypted backups of my most important data. I use Google Drive for some things already. Looking at the list of configurable targets, there were some obvious ones there. This isn’t the full list! (that can be found on the website) PhotoPrism PhotoSync has a lot of backup target options, and a bunch of technologies it can use, some of those options are: (Yes they encrypt their data before sending!) I already had a NAS at home, and was running docker (and portainer) on it as I host a bunch of services locally to use, including remote backup services for friends of mine. I can’t remember what I searched for to find PhotoSync, but it appeared in a list and looked like a great candidate for backups. I found PhotoSync to be an awesome app and setup PhotoPrism as a backup target for it to use. I wanted something that’d backup my photos automatically, and do so to my own hardware. This was inefficient, and I’d often forget to do it for months at a time. Previously my phone-photo-backup process involved connecting it to a computer, then manually copying photos to a folder on my NAS.

You already have ads, and the game is extremely small. The only problem is the paywall which blocks hard mode, as well as other settings for fighting bots. Functional, it even supports controller compatibility. Multi-player access is available through the "Gather” icon at the bottom of the home screen. If I did, I would play this game every day. I love the physics and sounds, as well as all of the different game modes. It's a great game and I look forward to what the future holds.Īlthough I only played it for two days, it has made me smile for all the years that it has been around. The controls are also much easier than those found on the phone. This game is amazing! It's a fun game with challenging gameplay and great multiplayer online! One suggestion: I suggest you add the game to your Nintendo Switch! It can run on mobile or at home and has great multiplayer options. It is boring and takes way too much time. Every time I try to move my character it takes quite a bit of time. Online Multiplayer is another thing that I hate. This is like forcing people to purchase it even though they are broke. You have to wait for 30 seconds before it disappears. It's annoying to be prompted to download BombSquad Pro. This game is great, but I do have issues. There are advertisements, but they don't appear very often so just to let you know. This means you can fall off the map if your steering doesn't match with the sprinting. The one thing that is most concerning about sprinting on mobile is the reduced steering. You don't have to be friends with other players in order to enjoy the game. If you do not have any friends, consider joining a server. Good job!Īction game with chaotic gameplay. However, you need to improve the things I mentioned above. I have trouble jumping, running, and hitting my opponents. It would be helpful to make running easier. However, there is one thing I don't like. Mohan's presence gives pause to Smita as he enlightens her and serves as a bridge between Smita's past and present knowledge of Indian customs. Mohan had been born in a village not that far from Meena. Smita will be accompanied by Mohan who worked with Shannon as an assistant and translator. Although the couple has married and Meena is with child, the community, as well as Meena's two brothers, have taken to ostracizing the couple.and far far more. The small village where this took place outside of Mumbai is still saturated in ancient traditions of cruelty and heartless punishment. The story involves a Hindu woman who marries a Muslim man. What begins as a gesture of kindness for a friend will completely transform Smita forever.Īs a favor for Shannon, Smita will fill in for a shocking story that Shannon had been working on. Smita flies to Mumbai for the first time since the flight that took her family to Ohio. Smita is a journalist on vacation in Maldives when she gets a call that her friend and fellow journalist, Shannon, is undergoing surgery. Smita left India when she was fourteen years old as her father took a teaching position at a university in Ohio. I was completely laid flat with emotions that left me with no words.Īnd it all began with Umrigar introducing us to a young Indian American woman named Smita. I sincerely felt like a ten ton truck had been sitting on my chest. Thrity Umrigar has gifted us with an exceptional offering in her latest novel of Honor. For honor beckons to sit upon the highest of the high. Never steal honor's breath to try to validate actions that defile its very virtue. Honor is pure and never tainted by the ways of the world. It's what resides in the temple of your soul. Honor is what you know about yourself." (Lois McMaster Bujold) "Reputation is what other people know about you. My thanks to the author and Algonguin books for providing me with a gifted print copy to review. Honor is currently available on the Hoopla library app in both ebook and audiobook formats. They’re worth wading through though if it means you get to experience this beautiful, fast-moving story about love, prejudice, and sacrifice. Given the plot’s content, it should come as no surprise that there are very difficult scenes to read. Meena is a strong-willed survivor though, and she’s taking her brothers to court in pursuit of justice for her husband and to inspire other victimized women to do the same against their own perpetrators. Their interfaith marriage was a viewed as an abomination to Meena’s family, so murdering the couple was an attempt to avenge such a dishonor. It’s 2018, and Indian-American journalist Smita returns to the country of her birth to cover the story of Meena, a Hindu woman whose brothers set fire to her home… killing her Muslim husband and disfiguring her in the process. I can think of no higher praise to get the point across that Honor is worth reading. While set in India rather than Afghanistan, it deserves a place on shelves next to Khaled Hosseini’s modern classics The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Thrity Umrigar has written a contemporary novel that’s literary fiction at its finest. Honor is one of those books that’s not always easy to read but unquestionably easy to recommend. In this tender and evocative novel about love, hope, familial devotion, betrayal, and sacrifice, Thrity Umrigar shows us two courageous women trying to navigate how to be true to their homelands and themselves at the same time. But the dual love stories of Honor are as different as the cultures of Meena and Smita themselves: Smita realizes she has the freedom to enter into a casual affair, knowing she can decide later how much it means to her. She also finds herself increasingly drawn to Mohan, an Indian man she meets while on assignment. While Meena’s fate hangs in the balance, Smita tries in every way she can to right the scales. As she follows the case of Meena-a Hindu woman attacked by members of her own village and her own family for marrying a Muslim man-Smita comes face to face with a society where tradition carries more weight than one’s own heart, and a story that threatens to unearth the painful secrets of Smita’s own past. Indian American journalist Smita has returned to India to cover a story, but reluctantly: long ago she and her family left the country with no intention of ever coming back. In this riveting and immersive novel, bestselling author Thrity Umrigar tells the story of two couples and the sometimes dangerous and heartbreaking challenges of love across a cultural divide. Intel Macs can also install Windows using Boot Camp although this only allows you to run your Mac in macOS or Windows at one time – you have to reboot to switch between the two.By far the easiest way to do this is with Parallels which makes it extremely simple and convenient to switch between macOS and Windows at any moment. First you need to install Windows on your Mac.If you’ve got all this in place, you’re now ready to install the latest version of FIFA on your Mac. If you don’t have space, don’t worry as you can also install Windows and FIFA on an external hard drive connected to your Mac too. This will very quickly eat up the hard drive space of the majority of Macs. This is because FIFA 23 requires a whopping 100GB of hard drive space so that means you’ll need at least 200GB of space to install both Windows and FIFA on your Mac. However, we recommend having far more than this – around at least 200GB+ to be safe. In addition, you’ll need a minimum of 16GB hard drive space to install Windows on your Mac. Next to Memory you can see exactly how much RAM you have on your Mac. To check your Mac system specs, go to the Apple logo in the top left of your Mac desktop and select About this Mac. Introducing: ChainDive, a side-scrolling 2.5D action-shooter developed by Alvion, released exclusively in Japan on the PS2. While it’s unlikely I’ll ever find anything that surpasses the equal parts groove and heavy-hitting goodness in Streets of Rage, I’m confident I’ve found the next best thing. Since then, I’ve made it somewhat of a personal mission to track down dangerously dirty game soundtracks that hit me the same way. When I watched Koshiro and Kawashima play ‘Expander’ (the lift music from Streets of Rage 2) during a DJ set in Paris back in 2018, there were moments where I thought my face was melting. Music this good should come with a warning sign. You can hear these inspirations throughout the music in the early Streets of Rage games: Inner City, Black Box, Technotronic, Marshall Jefferson – it’s all there, a megamix of late ‘80s and early ‘90s club music crammed into a tiny cartridge, and a lesson in how to max out the Mega Drive’s sound chip. READ MORE: HEALTH’s John Famiglietti on ‘Max Payne 3’, working with Reznor, and their dark upcoming album.House and techno hadn’t taken off in Japan yet, so Koshiro sought out places such as the famous Club Yellow, partying to imported Chicago house, Detroit techno, dance and soul music. With the Sega Mega Drive flying off shop shelves in the West, Streets of Rage was the first time Koshiro composed a game to appeal to an overseas audience, rather than a Japanese one. You can’t talk about club music in video games without mentioning Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima’s music in Streets of Rage. Today’s column dives into ChainDive, a side-scrolling game with the honour of being soundtracked by Dark Souls composers Yuji Takenouchi and Hideyuki Eto. The SLR mapping results found gaps for hybrid two types of classification methods on multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) and Spatial Multi-level Classification. The study results obtained that multi-criteria spatial data were developed in different spatial analyses. The searching method with a systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted on seven publishers of the traffic accident classification database. Many researchers have reviewed many factors, spatial methods of analysis, and ways to improve past traffic strategies. Determining road names that have not been appropriately approved makes the data biased. Identifying prone road traffic accidents (PRTA) has been based on the total number of accidents data. Various accuracies and cross-entropy errors of the training sets within the different learning rates were successfully acquired and compared. It shows how an understanding of anatomical form is vital to drawing all types of figures. All shapes and sizes are covered, from overweight and underweight to heavily pregnant. An essential book for reference and inspiration, the book provides insight into drawing real people, not just the anatomically 'correct' shapes. He brings his hallmark technical detail and accessibility to the subject of which he is a leading exponent. This would make a superlative choice for public or school library acquisition, artists/makers studio library, or home use.ĭisclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.Leading painter John Raynes' new book brings clarity to the anatomy of the human body in relation to the way we draw and paint it. Relevant lessons on themes such as texture, structure, and layering, are well illustrated with short tutorials in which students can find instruction and inspiration. There are lists which include anatomical/medical spatial directions and an abbreviated list with Latin prefixes, but they're accessibly defined and not at all intimidating. She presents the human body in line drawings with relevant anatomical terms in glossary lists scattered throughout. The author's background in medical illustration, physics, and teaching comes through clearly in her extensive and coherent instructions. This is a comprehensive and accessible manual. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links. Due out 1st March 2022 from Arcturus Publishing, it's 478 pages and will be available in ebook format. Originally posted on my blog: Nonstop Reader.Īnatomy for the Artist is a tutorial manual for human anatomy aimed at artists. I would absolutely recommend this book to comic artists, as well as anyone wanting to learn to sketch people but who don't have the resources (due to lockdown or otherwise) to take a life drawing course. Crouch doesn't call out comic art it's only that I'm really familiar with it and how bad anatomy and physiology is epidemic to the genre. I learned a lot, especially about what so many comic book artists fail to portray. She does specifically mention animation several times, as conveying the way bodies move is entirely necessary to the field. In essence, this book is about teaching a foundation in observational drawing so you can break those rules in interesting ways after you've got a grounding in the basics. She does focus on observational portraiture, aka realism, but admits her own artwork is typically more abstract. The focus is on finding the model's bones and muscles and presenting them on the page. Crouch celebrates human variety and how the human body changes constantly from birth to old age - it is always beautiful and she never judges. There are people of color, people with disabilities, people who use wheelchairs, and so on. This book is extremely inclusive, featuring models of many body types and gender expressions. She clearly shows how to use construction lines to develop proportion and describes the layer by layer process of building from nothing to a fully formed portrait. Crouch also spends quite a lot of time on weight distribution and movement direction for gestural poses. The anatomy portion is a thorough examination of skeletal, muscular, and fat systems. However, I found it very beginner-friendly, and I imagine it would be very helpful for experienced artists wanting to explore/get better at life drawing. I have read very few instructional art (drawing) books, so I don't know how this compares to what else is out there. The actual focal length remains decisive when it comes to depth of field effects, and it typically ranges between 5 to 15 millimeters. Since the depth of field of a camera depends on the focal length and the aperture, it is also now clear why you can't get anywhere near the beautiful blur effect with F1.8 and 50 mm equivalent focal length as you can with your DSLR at F1.8. Real focal length times Crop-Factor results in the 35 mm focal length equivalent. This ratio between the diagonal measurement of a 35 mm sensor and the sensor to be compared is called crop factor or format factor. Similarly, a smartphone camera with a 1/1.7-inch sensor requires a focal length that is 4.55 times smaller to achieve a similar viewing angle. The diagonal measurement of a 1/1.7-inch sensor, for example, is 4.55 times smaller than a 35 mm or full-frame sensor. Compared to a 35 mm camera, the real optical focal length of the smartphone lens system is far, far lower due to the tiny sensors. The reason for this is, the manufacturers always state the focal length that have been converted to the 35mm equivalent. Looks large but these are far from a 12-millimeter entrance pupil: the However, you won't find a multi-centimeter lens on any of the existing smartphones. Aperture 2 would mean an entrance pupil of 12.5 millimeters at a focal length of 25 millimeters. Those who notice their smartphone camera and the aperture that it comes in will most probably realize one thing: Focal length and (approximate) lens diameter do not seem to add up. What does the aperture on a smartphone mean? Beautiful blur for smartphone portraits: How bokeh effect works. If you are interested in how blur effects are created in optical systems, I recommend the following article, even if it is mainly about bokeh effects brought about by software. Since smartphones usually generate depth of field via an algorithm, this aspect remains as a marginal note. The smaller the aperture number, the shallower the depth of field.A doubling of the amount of light, on the other hand, happens when dividing the aperture by the square root of two, for example from F2 to F1.4. This means that halving the aperture translates to having four times the amount of light. This area varies according to the square of the pupil diameter, and there is a quadratic proportional relationship involved. So a diameter that is double in length halves the f-stop number - for example from F4 to F2. This is logical, as the entrance pupil's diameter is the denominator of the aperture ratio. The smaller the f-stop number, the more light will be able to reach the image sensor. The aperture plays an important role in smartphone photography, especially on these two points: Why is the aperture important for smartphone cameras? Therefore the result is dimensionless in any case. Note: When calculating the aperture ratio, the entrance pupil is measured in millimeters like the focal length. Since we are not a scientific publication at AndroidPIT, we will also stick with the linguistic usage of "aperture". The much-cited "aperture" is colloquial language and is used in a variety of ways to indicate both f-stop and f-number. The f-stop, on the other hand, is the reciprocal of this fraction and is then written as F1.8. The accurate term would be "aperture ratio", which describes the system's focal length to the diameter of the entrance pupil. This ratio is typically expressed as a fraction normalized to the numerator one in the notation "f/1.8" or "1:1.8". The terms aperture, f-stop (also known as f-number) and f-stop ratio are, strictly speaking, usually used incorrectly. Aperture and image quality: lots of light, little sharpness. What does the aperture on a smartphone mean?.Why is the aperture on the smartphone camera important?.
